On H1B, Renewed passport & CBP updated I94. Do I need to travel out and come in to US

I entered US last year with H1B, at Newark the CBP officer stamped my passport (old) with the expiry date of the passport (Sep 1, 2018) and updated I-94 to this date. My visa is valid till Jan 1, 2020 though. I got my passport renewed and I went to my local CBP office yesterday and got my I-94 updated to Jan 1, 2020.

My question here is, do I have to travel out of US and come in to get my passport stamp updated before Sep 1, 2018 ?

Or I don't have to, since I have got the I-94 updated to the correct date of H1B ?

I94 is all that matters. Nothing else needs to be done.

man, question for ya, when you went to CBP and got it updated your I94 expiration date to your visa expiration date jan 1 2018, did CBP keep using your old passport number or updating your new passport number?
