L1 to H1 Visa Stamping -Need to travel to India?

Hi,
Need some important information about L1 to H1 visa stamping for first time.
Is it necessary to go to India for first time H1 stamping after change of status from L1-H1 in usa?Can we visit the canadian/mexican embassy for H1 stamping? and later visit India for a vacation? Is this advised .

To change your status from L1 to H1,You can visit near by US Consulate canada/mexico..Need not to come and attend from India...

If your Change of status has been approved, you can continue working in the US without having to receive a stamping on your passport. You will need a h1B visa stamping only if you exit Us and seek to re-enter. You should preferable go to the Home Consulate fopr a H1B visa.
