H1b renival visa stamping in melbourne australia

Hello,

I want to go to Australia (Melbourne) to visit my sister for a family emergency on 3/17/18.

I am on 2nd visa (5th year) from the same employer. Full time job directly to the client XYZ. I am thinking of going to Melbourne US consulate for H1B stamping.



Has anyone experienced this recently. Also, Can you please shed some light on how the process might be. I am in need of this information ASAP and I do not have much time.

I cannot travel to India as this will be an expensive Trip.

Any help will be deeply appreciated.
