H4 visa valid stay after expiration?

Hi All,

My H1-B visa extension was approved upto Aug 2019. later I filed for my wife's H4 -dependent visa extension in Jul 18, 2017 (few days before her visa getting expired). Currently we are staying in US. Can someone please confirm, legally how many days she can stay in US. Also, if what will be the problems, if she over stayed? Thanks in advance.

If it was filed (officially received by USCIS) before her status ended (basically, this means the "received date" on her I-539 receipt is before the date her I-94 expired), she can stay in the US indefinitely as long as the extension of status is still pending.
