Can I start a company in India while working on H1B in US?

Hi,
I am currently working in US on H1B. I wish to start a company in India. Want to know if that is allowed. Can I register a company in India on my name? If yes, whenever it turns profitable, will I be required to pay taxes in US?
If its not allowed for me to own and work for company in India while working in US on H1, what are my other options?

There are no restrictions on your economic ownership of businesses (or fractions thereof)

However, actively participating in a business is work, and in this case is work done in the United States for someone other than your H visa sponsor

So no, it is not allowed. An interesting question is "how will USCIS/DOS/DOL find out" but the same is true of many other side hustles, but the point really is that you don't ever want to be in a position where your uncertain side hustle jeopardizes your lucrative main gig
