***Automactic Visa Revalidation***

Has anyone recently travelled to Canada and re-entered the US without any trouble under the AVR (30 day rule???). From the research I've been doing, it looks like the rule is still good for H1 B people, however most folks prefer driving as opposed to flying??? Also I know that the Rule itself says that it doesnt matter what category your expired visa was in (As long as you have a valid I 94), however I just wanna hear from someone who came back on an expired visa which was not in the same category???
