I am currently working at non-profit organization and had H1B. There is a private company willing to apply GC for me if i work for them. Does this company need to apply H1B for me or i can work for them while they filling my GC.
Thanks

But if you want to work for them prior to getting your GC, you will need a EAD that allows for it or the company needs to file for a H1.

However, if your spouse is on L1 visa, then you can switch to a L2 get an EAD and work.
If your spouse is on H1, has an approved I140, you can move to H4, get an EAD and work. None of these options is going to take less than 6 months at best.Just an opinion; Not legal advice.

Mind you all this is feasible only depending on your nationality. What I mean is: You can file I485 only if your PD is current. So if you are from India or China that option does not work. Also, if it is not EB1, your employer has to go through the PERM process with DOL. That could take anywhere from a few months to an yr. So no good options for you directly.
