I was being sponsored for H1B on the basis of an administrative position but H1 b cap reached on May 26th. What do I do to stay and work here? Since my employer is very nice, and the place I will be working is also a teaching institute, I want to explore both options: apply for J1 or F1. What is better and easier to change later to H1?

Its not clear where your present location is. Depending upon what you might be doing, if you get a J1 done, you might have a 2-year Home Residency Rule attached to it. Its a lengthy process to get a waiver done. Its better a visa stamped on your passport, whatever you choose to get done for yourself - F1 or J1.VEENA
