As a matter of fact, there are many such mom & pop companies in NJ. These so called body-shoppers, desi-consulting firms are not fly-by night shops per se. These companies seek people who are ready to make full payment upfront for their H1b application, roughly $3500-$4000.

Ask you friend in US to visit their premises and verify their claims. Also getting a H1B stamped once you get approval from USCIS is a nightmare. Its difficult to convince visa officer that yor are a genuine case.

I am stuck with a 221g myself because my employer is one such firm based in NJ. I dont know its my personal bad luck or because my employer is so small.

I would say check before paying any money. Hope this helps.
