H4 visa for my child

Hi,
I am a H1 holder working in USA for the past 6 months accompanied by my wife. I have a kid aged 1+ years and he is in India. I need to get H4 visa for him to bring him here. Can anyone please let me know whether personal appearance is required for him or if there is any other drop box in Hyderabad to get his Visa Processed as soon as possible.
