laid off, I-797 expired

Hi,



I was laid off on Sept 5. My I-797 was valid until Sept 8 and that's when my employer sent withdrawal notice to USICS. I traveled to India on Sept 16. Since USCIS took some time to process withdrawal, does that mean my stay was legal till Sept 16.

For your visa in particular, I believe you have a grace period of a few days that will allow you to get travel arrangements in order without accruing unlawful presence, but I could be wrong.
