h1b dropbox stuck at "administrative processing"

Hi,

I work for a well reputed US company. I came to India to restamp by H1B renewal (first).

The following is the timeline for my h1b dropbox at the Chennai center so far:

Oct 29 - Dropped off documents at the center

Oct 30 - "Application received"

Nov 02 - "Administrative processing"

Nov 15 - "Administrative processing"

I have not received a 221g yet. I have already rescheduled my return flight once.
Has anyone experienced similar wait times?

I had my visa interview at the Mumbai consulate on 1st November and have not received my passport yet. My visa status still shows 'Administrative Processing'. I know it is a case to case matter, but please share if you received any communication from the consulate or of any other development.

Timeline update

Nov 19 (morning) - CEAC status moved to "Issued"

Nov 19 (afternoon) - Passport status changed to "available for pickup"

It took 8 business days for it the status to change from "Administrative Processing".


A word of caution for anyone attending visa interview / dropbox.
Expect the process to take 4 weeks (based on the entries in the forum some ppl do get it done early.. but again you may be unlucky!).
This will reduce the stress of checking the status every hour & avoid rescheduling your travel plans!
