infant Allowed inside US visa consulate

Dear Folks,

i am scheduled to goto H1b Extension visa stamping interview in Chennai Consulate along with H4 Stamping for my Wife. we have two kids one 3 years and one 6 Months old. Both are US citizens, are they allowed inside the consulate along with us during the interview. I can Leave my 3 years old kid with my mother. But 6 Months old, kid wont stay with anyone. So do they allow kids to enter with us in chennai consulate?

Anyone experienced this?
