Overstaying grace period while H-1B is being transferred

I am nearing the end of the 60 day grace period after leaving my past employer on H-1B visa (2 days left). I've received and accepted an offer at a new place that is willing to transfer the H-1B. However, the transfer petition will likely be submitted after the grace period ends, and expect the receipt to come in after a week or so. So I would have overstayed about 1-2 weeks by then. Should I leave the country temporarily (I have a tourist visa for Canada)? Will overstaying by 1-2 weeks have negative effect on the transfer? I have an approved I-140 and valid I-94. Thanks
