Visa Joint Interview Appointment - Cancellation advice

Hi,

I'm on H1 and my wife is on H4. Our current visa is expiring in Oct and we got our extension papers with us (valid until Mar 2008). We were planning to go to India in November and so we scheduled a joint interview appointment with the US consulate. But the situation has changed and only my wife will be travelling to India and has to come back in Dec. I inquired with VFS and they say that I cannot cancel single appointment from the joint appointment. They say the only option now is to cancel the joint appointment and schedule new appointment for my wife. The problem is, I cannot get any appointment before Jan 2007.

I need some suggestions/advice from you:

1. If I don't cancel the joint appointment and only my wife appears for the interview, will it be rejected?

2. Is there any emergency type appointment for H4 visa holders?

3. Any other option?

I was in a similar situation and we had appointmnet together on Nov 1st.The VFS asked my hubby not to show up and explain to the VO about my husband's situation.
But we did not want to risk as he has to go for his H1b stamping later and so we cancelled the appointment and I was able to get on Nov 28th.
Here are a few tips for you.
before cancelling look up for the available trend contioniously for 3 days.
First Save your wife's application and exit without booking an appointment.
It will be there in the database for 7 days.
when you find a convenient date log in and book the appointment.
Usually Sunday nights seem to have lotsa cancellations(around 12-1a.m EST)Since I'm in MT I was able to look up without sacrificing the sleep.
