221(g) .. more than 16 months

Hi

I am from Hyderabad . I had been to Chennai consualte on 24th Mar2005 for my H1 Interview . The VO was good , he has asked me about my previous visits to US and about the company in US . I had been to US twice on Business visa . I told him about the company and the the details he has asked me . He told me that he has to verify my certificates , He had taken them inside and came back after 10 mins , again he spoke to me for few mins and went inside again . He came back after 10 mins and said that "consualte wants to do the additional admin processing " . He has taken all my Education certificates,Exp letters, and My H1 papers and given me 221(g) blue paper . He has written 221(g) on the backside of my passport . I have asked him about the time duration of admin processing , The V.O said it will take few weeks and said that If my certificates are valid , he wll issue the visa . In case if they found that the certificates are **** , they will send my certificates back to me . Its been more than 16 months till date , I have not received any call from the consulate . I have mailed them so many times , they are simply saying that my application is still under admin processing .


Is there any way that I can know the status of my certificates and my visa status ..

My pressent company wants to send me to US on B1 , Shall I get my B1 if I apply ..

Hi there,

I too applied for my h1b visa on March 24th 2006 and its been 4 months. Looks like I have a long way to go. It is crazy waiting for sooooo long. I know each month waiting is like one year. Have you tried contacting the embassy.
What reason they told you, was it security clearance or was it employer check. Mine's a employer check because, my employer is a small NJ-based desi consulting firm and I'll be working for their clients.

It is really sad for guys like us. No place to appeal or complain. Hope its comes sooner now. Only people who have got 221g can understand what they are going thru.

221(g)Additional admin processing - 16 Months waiting

The company which filed my H1 has got good number of consultents and the VO said that he knows that company history , I htink they might be checking my experience and my education certificates .. Lets c how much time they will take .. Rt now I can not move to any other company nor travel to other countries . My present company wants me to go to US on B1 for an assignment , Dont know what will happen if I apply B1 .. Please suggest ..

I have no idea about B1 application now. Ask your current company attorney.

Its a shame they have kept your passport with them. They shouldnt. You can ask them to return it.

Luckily I have the passport with me.
