H1 Renewal

Hi,

My H1 expires after 6 months. But in the meanwhile I will be travelling back to India(Offshore) as the onsite project gets completed. Can I apply for H1 renewal from India.

No the renewal can only happen if you are in US at the time of expiry of the H1

You can apply for an extension if you are in India. As long as your current H-1B is still valid, but you happen to be out of the U.S., you can still file for an extension. You will need to return to the US before your current H-1B expires though.

You cannot file a change of status request from outside the US or travel outside the US after that filing, but an extension of status request is different.
