What is the minimum passport validity duration to enter US?

I know to get a US visa, our passport should be valid for minimum 6 months.

How about while entering US?

My passport expires in Mar-2007, and I am planning to visit US during Dec-2006. Can I enter US with only 4 months passport validity?

You must have at least 6 months passport validity in order to obtain a visa.

You can enter the US with any amount of passport validity, it does not need to be 6 months or more.

HOWEVER, a customs officer can choose to provide an I-94 valid only to the expiration of your passport. Therefore, if you enter with only 4 months left on your passport, you may only receive an I-94 valid for 4 months.

Better to obtain a new paspsort validity before then if possible.
