F1 to H1 Transfer -effect on status

I got my H1 approved in May 2005 when I was in F1 status. My start date was Oct 1 2005. I stayed in school till end of September and started in October 2005. I was given a stipend by my school as part of my program till then. I was told that my company start date does not matter and my H1 approval date only matters, in other words I was on H1 from May 2005 and not Oct 2005. Does this mean I should not been in school till then? Will this affect my status? If I go for stamping should my start date be May 2005 ?

Dont worry! Since your start date is October 1 your status will change on October 1 and not on the day your visa was approved. So you are fine in this case and Conratulations for getting the Visa. Good Luck!
