Help! First time H-1 B Extension

I work in a high school as a math teacher. My H-1 B visa will expire on Jan. 14, 2007. I know I should renew it soon. The school which I'm working for agree to sponsor me, but they don't want to pay the atterney fee. That's a lot of money to me as well. I attampt to do it by myself. However I have no clue where I should start. Any of you has gone through the first time h-1 B extension? Would you please share some detail with me? Such as what doc I should prepare? Where should I file the doc?

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

---- Whoever sponsors you for a H1B is repsonsible for the payment of all fees including lawyer associated fees. Even if the application is filled by you and submitted they are responsible for the fees and this by law. You can refer to the DOL website for this

Thank you so much for responsing my question. I knew it was required by the law. However, I'm working for a charter school. "The budget is tight." That's the phrase we heard the most. Anyway, law is the law, and the reality is the reality.

I just need some idea, then I can get started. I heard the renewal of H-1 B was kind of repeat the whole procedure of getting H-1 B. So do I still need post the ad, on the newspaper?

Help please.
