Taking infant to Consulate

Me and my spouse have visa appt at chennai consulate. We also need to take our infant baby to the consulate, but the baby doesnot have appointment because of American passport.

So will they allow us to carry baby with us.

If anybody with same experience, pls respond

I have read somewhere that infants are not allowed inside unless they have appointment. So, better to leave the baby with relatives or friends.
