Hi , My petition approval notice I797 for H1b has a validity from 12/02/2005 to 10/01/2008. The stamping was done at Mumbai consulate on 3rd May 2006.When my passport came by post to me after stamping , it had the expiration date of 10th Jan 2008.I did not initially understood reason for expiration date of 10th Jan 2008 which should have been actually 1st Oct 2008.Currently I am in US and my employers told me that the person who punched the date in VISA section at US embassy at the time of stamping , read it in Indian format (dd/mm/yyyy) in place of american format(mm/dd/yyyy). So the expiration date on VISA became 10th Jan 2008 , even though the I797 is valid till 1st Oct 2008.
Kindly advice me what needs to be done ? Because of this problem , my visa is expiring 9 months in advance.
