Travel to India with receipt no. for petition extn

Hi,

I applied for extesnsion of H1B petition (premium processing ) and got receipt number on 16 Nov. Company's lawyer says I should get decision in next week.
I have to go to India on vacation on 08th Dec. In case I do not get decision of my extension by then, can I go out of US just on the basis of receipt number and if so do I need to inform someone. Also I need to get visa stamped when I will be in India. Is there any option available where I need not appear for interview personally or what is Drop box facility?

----Yes, you need to inform your employer. However, it is not advisable to undertake a journey outside of US when your H1 is under process (whether it is premium or regular processing)

---- You will need you original H1 approval notice (I-797) for the Visa interview. There is no option for getting a Visa issued other than an interview with the US Consulate. The drop box facility is for a totally different purpose.
