H4 and work authorization.

Hi,

I'm on my H1-B. Wife would come on an H4, to start with. I understand that she can't work with an H4. But my friend is with L1, his wife came on L2, she got the work authorization and he is telling that she can take a full-time job now.

Is that auth. only for L? If not, what's the procedure ?

---- Yes, on L2 you are authorized to work, but not on H4. However, you can join some course, enhance your skills and apply for a H1 after finding an employer to sponsor you
