Will my H4 be still valid if I quit my job in H1?

I am currently in my H4 .My husband's company is ready to sponsor me H1 in the quota for non-profit organizations(its valid for a year). But my husband is planning to shift to a new job elsewhere in 7-8 months. In that case I might have to quit the current job or apply for a transfer. I have 2 concerns.
1. Will my H4 be still valid if i quit my job on H1?
2. If the company applies for a H1 in this exempt quota, Can I still apply for a H1 in regular quota through some consultant or is it illegal?


I can decide to take up this job only based on your reply.Please help.

---- NO, Once you take up a job on H1 your status will only be H1 and not H4. Thus H4 will no longer be valid

2. If the company applies for a H1 in this exempt quota, Can I still apply for a H1 in regular quota through some consultant or is it illegal?

---- Yes, you cna apply for H1 in the regular quota and it is not an issue. However, no transfer can take place
