Can I work on H4? PLz advise!!

I'm working in India in IT from 1yr. Now I need to travel on H4 quitting job, my concern is 'Can I do job on H4'? If 'NO', plz letme know wht is the process/option to do job on H4?
It is necessary to inform in consulate that 'I'm working' ?

you cannot work on H4. If you want to work... you have to apply for H1 or try for L1

Same answer again. H4 is dependent visa and you cannot workon H4. You can only work on H1 or L1. If you are planning to come to US on H4, you can come to US and search for a job in a company that will agree to sponsor your H1B and then you can start working for that company after your status gets changed from H4 to H1B. Hope this clarifies your question.
