  • E2 to H1B conversion

Hi, I would appreciate some advice from the good people who reads and replies to these forum messages.

I am currently on E2 dependent status here in the US and I got my EAD card last July 2006 which makes me eligible to work. I have been working for a company since that time and they are going to apply for an H1 visa for me on April 2007. The thing is, my E2 visa already expired last Aug 2006, my EAD card's expiration is on Dec 2007 but my !-94 is until March 2008. Since my I-94 is valid until March 2008, I am allowed to stay here in the US until that date. However, I can work until Dec 2007 because of my EAD card validity. I am hoping to get my H1 visa this year for job continuity. My question is, do I need to go back to my home country to have the new H1 visa stamped? How long is the H1 visa stamping process if I will not do it in my home country? Is there an alternative place where one can obtain an approved H1 visa stamp?

Thanks so much and I hope to receive an immediate reply.
