    H1B and entry to US period

    Hi,
    I am doctor, My residency will start from july 1st. I want to know how early I can enter US. As joining date is clearly mentioned in the contract, my friends tell me that I can only enter not more than 10-14 days prior to my start date. I am a bit apprehensive as I have to sort out everything from scratch and 10 days seems nothing.
    Any kind soul plz advice.
