Question about OPT and H1

Hi,

I’m a Master student Major in Electrical Engineering who graduated on May 04, 2006. My OPT started on July 02, 2006 and will be ended on July 01, 2007. I’ll apply H1 on April 01, 2007. There is gap in July, August, and September before H1 take effective on Oct 01, 2007.

If I want to apply for a new I-20 to cover the gap. My question is if my OPT will be ended as soon as the I-20 issued or the class begin. There is too much difference between the definitions to me.

Please give me some information.

Your OPT will expire when it really expires, that is Jul 1, 2007.
