H4 to H1 - time gap

Presently, I am on H4 visa. A company has offered me a job and are ready to process my H1 Visa in April 2007. But once the attorneys told them that I can start work only in October 07, they are stepping back. Is there anyway I can hold on to this job offer and secure my H1. Is working voluntarily going to be a problem.

After you receive the H1 in Oct 07, you need to apply for a social security number which you will receive Jan 3rd, 07.. You can start working only after receiving social security number.
