H1 transfer if no recent paystubs available

My last job on H1 visa got over on 2nd Feb (working there since May last year) and I had to go to India for the period 18Feb-23Mar. Since coming back to US I am looking for a new project, and most probably I will have to transfer H1 to another company. Today is 17 May which means I have no payrolls for (3Feb to 18 Feb) and (24 Mar onwards). My present H1 holder company is showing me on unpaid leave. Will the transfer of H1 be a problem. Please help me out and what is option available with me. Shall I ask him to run the payrolls?
