Urgent : H4 Stamping : Wife's name misspelled in husband's passport.

Hi,

My wife's name is misspelled in my passport. However, her passport has my name spelled correctly.
Will this cause any issue during H4 stamping. Do I need to get my passport corrected to refect my wife's name correctly ?
Pls reply as this is urgent.

In fact, today I had been to the Passport Office, Bangalore for enquring about how to get the name corrected. The procedure outlined in the Karnataka RPO website and what the lady at the enquiry counter told me are 2 different things. She asked me to fill form 2A and drop it along with teh passport in the drop box. No receipt will be issued. I somehow dont feel comfortable abt dropping the passport in a drop-box with no receipt to track it especially with the stamping date close by.

Wud appreciate if anybody can share their experiences for similar kind of issue.
