Urgent help needed - H4 stamping when H1 transfer in process

Currently my wife's H1b transfer is in process. Meanwhile she wants to travel to India and return back on H4 status after stamping due to family constraints.

1) Can she travel from USA to India on H1b and return back on H4 visa?
2) Does coming back on H4 affect her H1b transfer?
3) Can she change her status back to H1 at later point of time when she is ready to work?

Please help us, we want to make our travel plans soon.
