h1 extension applied - can i travel?

my H1 expires in Sep, 2007. extension has been filed already. can i travel out of US while my extension petition has been filed. ( i am still within the valid H1 date stamped on my card and visa) and I plan to return by August
will there be any problems for (a) re-entry or (b) the status of the extension petition?

No travel possible, either wait to file the extension upon return or wait till extension is approved
