Hi,

I have a query. I am getting married in nov. 2007. My fiance works on H1B visa in U.S.A.

My question is that can I apply for an appointment for H4 Visa in the U.S. Consulate before my marriage date?

And if yes ,then if i apply for an appointment in september for the month of nov ..what should I put in my marital status in DS156 form as i need to submit this form online before my marriage?

Hi

What is important and the consulate expects is on the date of H4 visa interview whether the person is legally married.

You can make application online before your wedding. You can also put your marital status as Married. (For H4 visa it is the main criteria)

Make sure your visa interview appointment date is after your Marriage date.

Consulate people will ask for Marriage Certificate and Marriage Photos also for proof of legal marriage. You can not visit H4 interview unless you are married.
