H1 expiring, need to invite parents with Receiopt Number

hi,
My H1 is expiring on July 09th, submitted documents for extension, yet to receive the Receipt Number, wanted to know, once i get the Receipt Number, would that be good enough for my parents to go for thier visitors visa. We need to sponsor my parents visit before the 1st of Sept 2007, due to personal emergency (my wife's delivery).

PLEASE ADVISE.....any input would be greatly appreciated.

---- Ideally it is not possible as the only acceptable proof of your legal stay in teh US is the I-797. In order to speed up the matter you can go in for premium processing so that you can get an answer in 2 weeks

---- A receipt number is only receipt of an application and nothing more
