New job while on leave

Hi,
I am on EAD-L2 here. I came from India on an unpaid leave for a month and just casually applied for a 2 week long contract position in Michigan. Now, I have been selected.
Can I work on this 2 week long project without resigning from my company based in India? Are there any legal constraints?

If you have a social security number and valid EAD, you can work on the 2 week contract. You do not have to tell your company in India about this position at all. If your husband is going to be here longer than a month and your employer in India allows extended leave, I suggest you apply for extended leave (unpaid) from your company.
