Need a help Regarding H4 visa

Hi all,
I am in USA right now on F1 visa and filed for H1 for year 2007.
My wife will go to get H4 visa in India.
Do I need to get stamped my H1 before she go for her H4 visa?
or
Can she go for visa with my F1 stamped passport and I 797

Please advise me

she only needs the H1 approval but a proof that all the time you were in states you were legal will also help.

Yes you need to get the approval only then she can apply for H-4 visa at the consulate. Provided you have mentioned in the H1 petition of yours details of your spouse or the dependants.
