OPT to H1B

I am working under OPT valid till end Sept 07 and got my H1B approval
under Masters' quota.Since the company thro whom I got the visa approval
has been acquired by another company (all emplyees have received employment letters from the new co) they have applied for the transfer of
my I797 in their name and detals are awaited.

My querry is incase I donot receive transfer approval/documents before
Sept end can I continue to work with my employer from 1st Oct (which is
the effective date of H1B) and go for stamping later on receipt of the
transfer approval and documents.

My I797 approval has new I94 but without COS approval which was not
requested by my employer--which may pls be noted.

---- If you have the receipt notice you can start working. You can go for stamping at a later date
