H1-B portability exempt to non-exempt

I am currently a post-doctoral fellow at a University. My H1-B was filed under the higher education category which is exempt from the quota. I now have an offer from a company (profit) and since its too late to file the H1-b under the non-exempt category, can my H1-B be transfered to this profit organization.
If so , could you give me some details on the process Thanks for the feedback

in your case you have to wait for the H1 numbers to be current.


You cant move from exempt-to non-exempt before Oct 2008
