L1 to H1

I have a question.
I have entered the US on a L1A visa through my employer. I also have a valid H1B petition (from the same employer) valid until 03/2009.
If I want to change my job, can I get my H1B petition transferred to another company and change status from L1 to H1?

Please let me know.

Currently working on L1, but I have a H1 Petition valid until 2009.

You can't do H1 transfer in that case.
