L2 Visa while on H1 Urgent

Hi,
I have H1B visa stamped thru company A. My spouse is holding L1 thru company B and now is in US.
My questions are,
1. Is is possible for me to apply for L2 now ?.
2. Should i have to inform my current employer about this decision ?
3. Is Resignation Letter from company A mandate at the time of appearing for VISA interview?
4. I am aware anybody can hold either L2 or H1. But if the L2 visa is getting rejected, is my H1B visa still valid ?.

---- Why do you need a L2? However, you can keep both at the same time and you are writing the same below in your post

---- Appearing for which interview H1 or L2? If it is for L2 then there is no need

4. I am aware anybody can hold either L2 or H1. But if the L2 visa is getting rejected, is my H1B visa still valid ?.

---- Yes the H1 is valid as per its validity period
