Applying for H1 and H4 Visa together at Chennai Consulate

What's the process to get a H1 and H4 Visa stamped together at Chennai Consulate ? Is drop box still allowed or Is personal interview the only choice ?

In our case it would be a new 6 year term after spending 1 year in India. Any help would be appreciated.

H1 question again. Tricky situation

I m going for my visa in October. H1 for me and H4 for wife.

My wife is planning to statr H1 this month with a start date of Nov1.

If she enters us before Nov 1st on H4, Can she technically start working after Nov 1 ?

I know that if she has an approved date of Oct 1, and if she enters after Oct 1 on a H4, there is a problem and she has to apply for change of status and that takes 4-5 months. But, what if the H1 has a start date of Nov1. Is that an escape route ?
