starting H1 at a later date after October

hi all

i am a recent graduate and have gotten a job offer from a design firm...they r ready to sponsor my H1....i heard that the next block of H1 visas is going to be filled up in October.....my question is if i can get a visa from this block but start on my H1 from December (or possibly May next year)...this way i save lots of tax money plus finish my thesis (priority in that order)....

Hi,

I guess you can do that to an extent.

I understand that you can specify your start date on your H1 application and it should be no more than 6 months from the date of your application.

I suggest you find out the latest info, coz the quotas are getting filled before the start of the term. The 2005 quota is supposed to filled up before Oct1, 04. Thats wierd!
