Taking child for interview - Child not an applicant

We have a 4 year old girl and she is a US citizen. Both myself and my husband are H1B visa applicants. We have interview scheduled in Chennai. We are are NOT based out of chennai and so we cannot drop our daughter anywhere in Chennai. So our concern is whether we can bring her to the interview. Though I have heard about it I like to get it confirm again. Anybody took your child in for the interview and the child is NOT an applicant. Also let me know about the type of food that is allowed inside for the child.

r u not taking ur child to the US? later how will she go for interview? I sugget some of u mak eher as additional applicant and get her visa stamped too. Else later whn u go for her stamping u may face the fire!!

According to easwara the kid's an United States citizen

Hence doesn't need a visa to travel to US.

Thanks 'knowledgeable' to clarifying the previous post. I have contacted VFS and also US consulate by email. Let's see what they have to say.

I dont think you can take your child to the consulate if she is not an applicant.
