H1b to F1

I will complete six years on H1B expires in Jan 2005. My company has filed LC, and will apply for the 7th year extension of my H1b shortly.
I plan to quit my job and become a full time student sometime next year. Are there any issues in switching to F1 while in the 7th year? Would it be easier to switch to F1 while in the 6th year instead?
