H-4 Visa Stamping in Chennai - Plz Help

Hi Gurus,

My wife has applied for a dependent visa (H-4) at US Consulate, Chennai. During the interview, the visa officer did not grant the visa since the validity of the passport is less than 6 months. However, the application form and the visa fees were accepted and no receipt or note was given by the VO.

I am not sure whether this is considered as visa rejection or refusal. If it is rejection, I guess the VO would have issued 221g form or so. But no notice has been given.

I am trying to book an appointment again. I have concern on the form DS-156 on a particular question. Have you ever been not issued a visa? What do I say in this case?

For attending a visa interview the person should hold a passport where his/her passport should not expire within 6 months, This is not considered as a refusal... Please dont mention anything on the DS form... Their database mentions the reason regarding the case..
