L 1 to H 1

To whom it may concern:

We have recently been introduced to an individual that has been employed in the US under an L 1 visa for 3 – 4 years. We would like to hire this person. >From what I have read, we would have to hire this person and submit an application for an H 1 visa, but we don’t want to wait until Oct. 1 for this person to start working. Is there anyway that the L 1 can be transferred to our company or how can we legally bring an employee over to our company now? We would be willing to do whatever.

You need to get him H1 visa. Earliest you can file is Apr 1, 2008 and earliest he can work for you is Oct 1, 2008.

There is no concept of L1 visa transfer.
