L1b to H1b

Hello,
I work with an Indian IT company and currently in US on L1-B visa. I have a H1B approved from an American company effective Jan 2005.

1. Will my L1 visa be revoked and my status will be changed to H1b in Jan 2005 irrespective of whether I join the company, which sponsored my H1 or not.
2. Do I have an option of continuing on L1(with my current employer) beyond Jan 2005.
3. Can I pre pone or postpone my Effective H1 date.

Your L1 will not be cancelled just because you applied for H1.

As long as you continue to work for your L1 employer and your L1 is otherwise valid, it will continue to be valid.
