H4- work permit quries

Hi, I and my husband are on L2 n L1 visas respectievely....my husband is planning to apply for H1, this wil change my status to H4.. My quest is how do I apply for work permit while on H4 or how do I convert my status to H1. Pls help..-Rachna.

Sponsor / Job

You need a sponsor for your H1B and a job offer to go with it.

You cannot get a work permit on H4 as it is a dependant visa only.

Your H1B works the same way as your husband got his.

I got H1B and my wife is in depenedent Visa H4, she had experience in Non IT industry and is there is any chance she can apply for a visa other than H1 and get in to the same NON IT profession.

Your spouse should come to the US first on H4, as that is the easiest way in the country for her at this time.

Once in the US, your spouse can start looking for and apply for jobs in specific profession. Your spouse may be able to find an employer who might sponsor H1B visa. All this should be done here in the US only for your benefit.
